Closing the AI Gap: Why Modern Leaders Must Embrace Human and Agentic Intelligence

#leadership artificial intelligence business Jul 08, 2025

Peak performance and longevity doesn't happen by accident. If you're not getting informed and "AI Aligned" then you will be missing out on a critical element in our modern world. Don't wait for this all to settle down or 'come out in the wash'. Your AI Foundations matter and here's why:

We’re standing at a pivotal crossroads in leadership—one where artificial intelligence is no longer a future-facing topic, but a present-day imperative. The conversation is no longer about if we integrate AI into our organisations, but how well we do it—and more importantly, whether we’re aligning it with human potential, ethics, and strategic growth.

Again new breed of leader is emerging—dynamic, adaptable, and deeply committed to building organisations that harness both human capability and AI agentic intelligence. To thrive in this environment, we can’t afford to sit back. Curiosity, strategic awareness, and proactive implementation are now non-negotiable traits of modern leadership.

I'm a full nerd when it comes to tech. Always have been and I can spend hours playing with code, researching tech, building out MCP's (the most capable prompt) and advising on the other MCPS (Model Control Panels) + agents and integrated platforms or apps - just because I am naturally tech curious. I'm in my element. Human potential, AI, breaking down overwhelm and getting radically responsible for being in the driver's seat with tech that can send a missile faster than you can finish a sneeze.

These strengths have become critical skills for me as a leadership coach for peak performing CEOs, founders and businesses - as I now get to translate new language and navigate them through this era where voice commands can create a whole new well thought out organisational structure before you have finished your espresso. For real.

Before you read on, a quick note: This newsletter is written by me—not AI. Intentionally. Writing, podcasting, and coaching are areas where I choose to stay deeply hands-on. They’re the spaces where experience meets thought leadership, and where I can offer the most value in real time. It’s important to me to retain that creative sovereignty—because some things are too vital to delegate.

So let's dive in to 3 key points:

1. The Aligned AI Audit: A Strategic Imperative

Business owners, founders, and CEOs must lead from the front by conducting what I call an Aligned AI Audit (CLICK HERE AND YOU CAN DOWNLOAD AND EXPRESS VERSION) —a structured review that ensures AI adoption is not only technically sound but ethically grounded, people-centric, and commercially relevant.

This isn’t just about choosing the latest tool or jumping on a trend. It’s about:

  • Privacy, compliance, and security: Is your use of AI aligned with current legal frameworks and best practices?
  • Team integration and retention: Are your people in roles where they thrive—and do they understand how AI can support, not replace, their value?
  • Organisational structure: Have you considered new hybrid models of work where human and AI agents collaborate, not compete?
  • Decision-making: Are you making informed choices based on your business goals, not hype or fear?

2. Navigating the Noise

In a fast-moving ecosystem flooded with AI consultants, tools, and platforms—many launched by newcomers to the business world—it’s never been more important to have clear, criteria-based decision-making frameworks.

Leaders must be fluent in the fundamentals:

  • Learn the language of AI, so your briefs are relevant, informed, and future-proofed.
  • Guide your teams with clarity and confidence.
  • Build capability, not dependency.
  • Stay agile enough to evolve alongside the technology.

3. Final Thought: This Is Leadership 3.0

AI is here. It’s not a plug-and-play fix—it’s a transformational force that must be integrated with purpose and precision. As leaders, we owe it to ourselves, our people, and our customers to lean in, stay informed, and architect a business that thrives at the intersection of human and artificial intelligence.

This is not about replacing the human touch—it’s about amplifying it.You don't need to be an expert. You do need to get informed.

It's also imperative to choose consultants and AI agencies who truly are in this for YOUR best outcome. It's the wild west out there and I can tell you first hand that many systems we've built are replacing massive SAAS products that are too heavy and not agile or accurate enough any more.

  • Find your dream team or experts for guidance that are not in this like the diet industry to make a quick buck off your lack of knowledge.
  • Choose partners in this space that are committed to your personal and business transformation step by step.
  • Know your privacy, guardrails and server areas so that you don't have to rebuild or repair.

As of today I am so proud to say building our ClaraLunaAI and creating an all female team for our tech suite has been something I never would have imagined 2 years ago.

It's like the alchemy for me of intellect, coaching, tech and human insights all aligned. Furthermore our ability to view from a more holistic approach and understand the demands on running a business, scaling it and then having to 'go back to school' to learn about making good AI decisions is a lot to handle.

Don't rush this phase. Instead view it as a step by step foundation.

Make decisions based on your business goals and understanding the landscape. Don't just get a system in play because and AI whiz told you it's right for you. Have they run and scaled a business?

  • Do they know how to harvest years of IP from staff that is probably not properly documented as yet and no make it overwhelming or off putting.
  • Are they designing an approach that understands where you are at now and a view for the future?
Just like anything else - start slow, build a solid base, get curious. Buckle up. I choose excitement and intellect as the approach for this phase. Don't let the fear of the unknown widen the gap.

Here's that checklist again. Or you can also fill out our Pre AI ASSISTANT build day questionnaire here as a bit of a base line to see what you would need for yourself to build an AI assistant that is like a hired gun for what you need the most.

Reach out any time. I am happy to share the platforms, processes and help you after all the pain points I have gone through trialling, testing and building with AI. Just email [email protected] to book a chat.

Now's the time.
